"Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33

Bruce Wilkinson in his book Experiencing Spiritual Breakthroughs break down this verse:
a. "Seek" is an action verb, which means to "go in search for; to try to discover; to try to acquire or gain."

b. "First" defines the priority that I must give to this action.

c. "His kingdom" defines what I am to seek or to achieve. When a person seeks "His Kingdom," he invests his life to further what the LORD wants accomplished on this earth. And the two most important objectives that Jesus puts on the agenda for His kingdom can be found in Mathew 28:19-20

d. "His righteousness" defines the kind of person I am to become. While seeking His kingdom emphasizes His rule, His righteousness emphasizes His character: the Christlikeness which grows in the life of the believer who strives for maturity and holiness. When we actively seek to expand His life in ours, His character gradually becomes ours.
