I'm re-reading one of my favorite book:
Come Walk with Me by Carole Mayhall. I read this part below today, which made me smile and reminded me the importance of memorizing Scripture. May this be a blessing for you as it has been for me:Remember, my friend, you are pure in Christ. And it is only Christ who continues to purify you. In order to hear what He tells you, you need to absorb God's Word. especially through personal application. When David cried out to God, "How can a young man keep his way pure?" the answer was, "by living according to Your Word." (Psalm 119:9). David gave us the key to doing that by declaring, "I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you." (Psalm 119:11)
A friend told us of a serviceman, a new believer, who was concerned about his swearing. He said, "I'm able to control the swearing when I'm awake, but I talk in my sleep, and the men in the barracks tell me I swear in my sleep. What can I do?"
The man who had led this serviceman to Christ suggested that he begin memorizing Scripture regularly, which he did. Soon the men in the barracks heard him quoting verses of Scripture in his sleep! :))
"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:8
